Elon Musk Supports Kanye West’s Intention to Run for the US President
Tech billionaire Elon Musk twitted his support for rapper Kanye West after he announced he is “running for president” to replace Donald Trump. The rapper made the announcement on Twitter on the 4th of July, the USA’s Independence Day. “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION,” West wrote on Twitter on Independence Day. “You have my full support!” Musk wrote in response to West’s announcement on Twitter on Saturday. Kanye West has not revealed his plans on how he would go on with his campaign with elections due in less than five months. Kanye West has a history of liking Bitcoin and the growing expectation that the crypto community needs a voice in the White House. Back in 2018, he spoke extensively about Bitcoin in an interview with American radio host “CharlamagnThaha God.” He praised the idea of the leading currency and revealed that he had begun to use Bitcoin.

Expedia Teams Up With Travala.com for Booking with Crypto
Expedia, an online travel agency and metasearch engine has partnered with Travala.com, the leading blockchain-based travel booking platform to allow its customers to book over 700,000 listed accommodations with cryptocurrency through travala.com. Travala.com users can pay for Expedia listings in over 30 cryptocurrencies including bitcoin, which Expedia had accepted before shelving the option in June 2018. Senior Vice President at Expedia Group Alfonso Paredes said that the firm recognizes the importance of allowing users to choose their preferred payment method. “Working with Expedia means we can drive traveler loyalty throughout the recovery period,” he added. Back in November 2019, Travala.com struck a similar deal with Booking.com and added its over 90,000 accommodations to its platform. Data shared by the firm in January revealed that the firm saw its revenue increase by 33% after the partnership.

Cash Shortage Causes High Demand for Сrypto in Cuba
Cuba has stopped receiving aid from the South American country Venezuela amid the pandemic, which has created a food shortage in the country. In order to lessen the impact of the economic turmoil, a number of Cubans are resorting to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cubans have also been seeing a shortage of “mules.” “Mules,” otherwise known as “Mulas,” are not delivering much-needed goods and cash to the citizens. Mules account for close to half of the cash remittances in the socialist country. Many Cubans are evading the US sanctions by flocking to cryptocurrency, in order to shop online and send funds. There is also a popular Telegram channel with thousands of Cubans called “Cubacripto,” where they gather to trade or discuss cryptocurrencies. A number of reports have suggested that many Cubans have been seeking out cryptocurrency solutions over the last two years. Several other countries, including Venezuela and North Korea, have also been accused of using crypto to evade the sanctions put on by the United States.
